How to Build the Perfect Home Gym

Beauty

Exercising is great and it brings many benefits to both your health and looks. However, not everyone can afford to go to the gym, or simply doesn’t like going there and be around people, and at the moment we are all practicing social distancing. That means that we can’t go outside and exercise, but there is a great solution to all those problems - building a home gym. But, before you start, there are a few things you should know about how to build a perfect home gym.
Find the Space
The first step is finding a place in your home that you can dedicate to working out. If you have a spare room, plenty of space in some of the rooms or a basement, you can see if there is a way to turn that into a gym. On the other hand, if you live in an apartment, see if you can move things around easily when you want to workout, like pushing aside the couches, moving the table and laying down a mat for your workouts. Another option is taking it outside if you have a backyard and exercise on your lawn, or turn the garage or the shed into your own perfect gym.
Get the Necessary Gear
It is great to exercises with only your bodyweight, but some gear and equipment will motivate you further. However, since you’re building a home gym, you don’t need a ton of bulky machines and equipment that will only take up your space and potentially be a waste of money. Instead, opt for smaller gear that can be stored easily, which is versatile and that is actually affordable. For example, you can get a yoga mat, for a comfy surface, some resistance bands that can be used for a variety of exercises, a pilates ball and a set of weights. That is enough to get you started.

And if you want to slowly increase the weight you can lift or engage in other forms of training, then you can find the equipment you need. However, it’s always good to have these smaller pieces in your home gym, because you can always use them. What is more, you can add a jump rope for cardio and even get some accessories. Comfy shoes, shirts, and pants are always welcome, and you can even look into some shaker bottle options to complete the gear and stay motivated and healthy.
Keep it Organized
Now that you have gathered all your equipment, you should make sure it has its place so you can keep your home gym organized and clean. This is especially important if you are using a shared space as your gym. So, in order to get organized, think of a nook or a closet where you can store everything. If you have dumbbells and weights, make sure to have a sturdy rack; the resistance bands can easily be hung up on the hooks, as well as the jumping ropes. You can even lookup some sturdy shelves and store all the accessories on them and simply keep everything organized. Also, don’t forget to regularly clean the space where you workout in order to remove the sweat, dirt, and bacteria and keep the entire home clean.
Get a Mirror
The mirrors at the gyms are not only for checking yourself out in the new gear. There is a reason why they put them there and for the same reason you need it in your home gym. The mirrors are there so you can look at yourself and see if you are doing the exercise in the correct way. If you see yourself you can easily correct your form, posture and thus minimize the risks of any injuries. Plus, a mirror can be a nice decor piece and reflect more light into your home gym.

As you can see you don’t have to spend a fortune in order to have your own gym. You can easily build it in your very home and always have the means and chance to exercise and work on yourself.
